In our case, the answer comes from the world of the ad agency studio, where for decades (generations, really) graphic artists struggled to resize and localize ads to fit columns as narrow as 9 picas, or 1.5 inches. In more cases than clients might want to remember (or their agencies might care to admit), the effort cost more in studio time than it saved in media cost. And for our founders, it was a clear-cut example of how mechanical tasks can eat into precious marketing dollars that would be better spent engaging customers.
The name Pica9 connotes the precision that we have always believed local marketing automation demands — precision that helps to simplify the user experience and protect the brand integrity that advertisers and their creative resources work so hard to create.
